John Kruk was an outstanding hitter on one of the most colorful teams in baseball history, the 1993 Phillies.  Over his career John was respected for his eye and his line drive stroke.  He often made fun of himself and made the game fun for his teammates.  John once traded his jersey number to a teammate for a case of beer and a carton of Ding Dongs.  He was notorious for smoking in the runway before games and eating 4 hot dogs at a time.

On the last day of his career with a .299 career average he told his coach that if he got a hit his average would be .300 and that he was quitting.  He got up, got a base hit, called time out, and walked of the field forever.  .300 Average intact forever.  John has been a great addition to the Baseball Tonight lineup on ESPN and continues to be one of the funnest guys in the game.
